The Project Read Writing Contest is an annual event that encourages students to express themselves through writing and celebrate their growth as learners. Open to all Project Read students, the contest invites submissions in various formats—essays, poems, personal narratives, or short stories—giving students a platform to share their experiences, creativity, and voices. Winners are recognized at our Annual Recognition, and selected entries may be published in Project Read's writing anthology, Readers Write, or shared with the community.

Writing is a powerful tool for learning, reflection, and self-expression. For adult learners, writing builds confidence, strengthens communication skills, and reinforces reading and language development. It helps students organize their thoughts, process their experiences, and connect more deeply with the world around them. Through writing, students discover their unique perspectives and develop a lasting sense of achievement and pride in their progress.
